Close to the multi-storey Santa Caterina parking facility and Il Fagiolone bus parking area, Il Costone escalator is the quickest way to reach Piazza del Campo and Piazza Duomo, the Basilica di S. Domenico, the Santuario Cateriniano and the city centre. It is made of 12 escalators to overcome 35 metres in height.

The escalator is located 150 meters away from Santa Caterina car park, along via Esterna di Fontebranda, and proceeds to Valle Piatta, 150 meters away from the Duomo.
